Nottingham Counselling Service has a board of trustees comprised of four members who meet ten times a year. The members are responsible for the strategic directions and policies of the charity. The members are from a range of professional backgrounds relevant to the work of Nottingham Counselling Service.

Dr Chris Udenze - Director

Chris is former GP with 20 years’ experience of running a local practice based in St Ann, Nottingham. He has a major interest in psychosocial aspects of health. Chris is a consultant with Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. He a past chairman and a board member since January 2011.

Jinny Grey - Director

Jinny has served as a Trustee and Executive Board member since November 1998. She is a past Chairperson of the Board and chair of the Ethics & Practice Sub-Committee. A professionally qualified senior counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor- working both in the NHS and independent practice. She acts as Clinical Lead for and on behalf of NCS Board of Trustees. Jinny is also a part-time member of the BACP Adjudication Panel.

Le-Roy Edwards MBE - Chairperson

Le-Roy has been the CEO of Afro-Caribbean Education & Training Services (ACETS) for 25 years, working with vulnerable people and delivering services to disadvantaged groups. His expertise is in diversity training, project development, management, strategic development, planning, evaluation, monitoring and review. He also has a background and experience in person centred counselling He was appointed November 2013 and previously served as a director 1994 -1997.

Dr Louise Boulter - Director

Louise is a Senior Lecturer at Middlesex University Business School.  She is an author of many papers and several books for the Financial Times including one on Benchmarking.  This is a Japanese process improvement methodology known as 'Dantotsu' which literally means striving to be the best.  Louise has received funding for her research on performance improvement from a number of organisations including; Rolls-Royce plc, The British Quality Foundation, the European Foundation for Quality Management and the Department of Trade & Industry.  Louise is the academic advisor to the Advisory Council for the Chartered Quality Institute.

Dr Maeve Fitzpatrick - Director

Maeve is Research Development Manager for the Americas, at the University of Nottingham. Prior to that, she lectured in Operations Engineering at the University of Limerick, where she was responsible for research development for the Centre for Enterprise Research.

Jodi Smith – Director

Jodi has a strong background in business administration and management, predominantly within the public sector. She is a newly qualified person-centred counsellor working in the private voluntary and independent sector. Jodi is passionate about supporting access to high-quality counselling services.

Leslie McDonald - Executive Director and Company Secretary

Leslie was appointed as Executive Director and Company Secretary in September 2005. He has a background in more than 25 years of senior management within the business support and regeneration sector. He is a member of the Nottingham City, Health and Wellbeing, representing the voice of the Third Sector. Also a board member of the New Arts Exchange, a national organisation, promoting arts from diverse cultures. Educated at the University of Nottingham and holds a Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurial Management. 

Trustees are appointed at the Anual General Meeting (AGM) and hold office until the next AGM following their election or re-election.
