Our Trustees Apply to be a Trustee Nottingham Counselling Service has a board of trustees comprised of six members who meets up ten times a year. The members are responsible for the strategic directions and policies of the charity. The members are from a range of professional backgrounds relevant to the work of Nottingham Counselling Service. Board of Trustees/Directors pen portrait (2024/25) Chair of the Board of Trustees: Dr. Steve Goode CBE I have worked in Public Sector for 45 years. I believe in public service and helping communities and individuals from all backgrounds to lead constructive and fulfilled lives . I trained as a Probation Officer and became a Chief Probation Officer before entering the Civil Service in Commissioning Correctional Services both in Prisons and Prisons. I latterly had direct responsibility for 2/3 of Probation Trusts in England and Wales. In addition I was a Non Executive Director in the NHS from 2006 to 2021at both strategic and hospital level . I believe in the ability of all people to change and develop despite personal and structural challenges. I bring energy and experience plus a pride in achieving excellence which I believe is shared by all those who work at NCS. I remain passionate and committed to leading and supporting all staff and volunteers to achieve their full potential in delivering high quality services as part of a team effort, working in partnerships wherever possible. Dari Gfeller I am a therapist (in placement) at NCS and also have a 20+ year career in corporate finance, across varied sectors. I hope my background in finance and IT systems will bring valuable experience to the board of trustees, and my work as a Integrative Therapist at NCS gives me unique insight into the service we provide our clients. NCS is a valuable part of our community and I'm proud to be a part of it. Ben Waldram Experience of working in a governing body/board of trustees; a passion for supporting children and families in theri welfare and well-being so they might thrive; an understanding of finances and policies; a commitment to the city I work and live in. Anju Virdee Anju Virdee is an experienced leader and developer of people with over 20 years of experience in senior leadership roles across public, third sector, and independent organizations. She is the founder and company director of Puran Ltd, a consultancy focused on whole person development for individuals and organizations. Anju specializes in leadership development, coaching, facilitation, and organizational culture expertise. Anju has a strong background in education and governance. She currently serves as an Independent Governor at Derby College Group, where she is a member of the Curriculum Performance Committee and the Link Governor for Inclusion/SEND. Her previous governance roles include Vice Chair of Cavendish Learning Trust and Governor at secondary and primary academies. In her professional capacity, Anju has worked with national workforce development bodies, developing CEOs and leadership teams. She has experience in the civil service, supporting school leadership development, and has led successful initiatives in the third sector. Anju is known for her participative approach, strong emotional intelligence, and ability to translate vision into achievements.
