Neurodiversity in the Therapy Room

This CPD workshop will help therapists, counsellors and trainees develop a clearer understanding of neurodiversity and how it may present within therapeutic work. The session will explore different diagnoses, what clients may bring into the therapy room, and how counsellors can adapt their approach to work safely, respectfully and effectively. 

· Understanding neurodiversity and what it means in therapeutic practice 

· Exploring different diagnoses and common presentations 

· Recognising what may show up in therapy sessions 

· Understanding how neurodivergent clients may communicate, process emotions and engage in therapy 

· Adapting therapeutic approaches to meet individual needs 

· Working safely, respectfully and flexibly with neurodivergent clients · Considering what the counsellor may experience in the room

· Building confidence in supporting neurodivergent clients effectively
