Counselling Courses, Training and Development for Counsellors

Nottingham Counselling Service (NCS) is a well-recognised and established trainer and provider of counselling courses, training and development for counsellors. 

We have been training our own counsellors since 1983 and provide courses and training for qualified counsellors and counsellors in training, including:

• Two year HE Certificate in Professional Counselling Practice
• In-house training for counsellors practising at Nottingham Counselling Service (NCS)
• Training for counselling practitioners
• We also provide facilities for hire for trainers and counsellors who wish to run events from the centre.

In-house Counselling Training, Seminars and Workshops

We regularly run training, seminars and workshops for both our in-house team of counsellors, students and volunteers, and external counsellors from all over the East Midlands.

Our training and development support for counsellors will be designed to meet the needs for Continual Professional Development (CPD) in line with the BACP and the Health Profession Council (HPC) guidelines for future developments. 

We will facilitate seminars and workshops to include sessions on:

• Therapeutic endings
• Use of supervision
• Working in a time-conscious contract
• Developing theory
• Childhood sexual abuse
• Child protection issues
• Diversity and equal opportunities
• Prescriptive drugs
• The mental health system
• Trans-gender
• Sexuality
• Any other relevant or required workshops.

We also run longer courses on:

• Assessment
• Risk assessment
• Supervision.

Facilities and Resources for Hire

We have a wide range of counselling facilities and equipment to hire.  These facilities include:

• A group training room which holds up to 24 individuals (in a circle).

Our facilities enable external counsellors and trainers with the opportunity to hold their own events at Nottingham Counselling Service.
