Placement and Supervision for Counsellors

Nottingham Counselling Centre- Gaining experience with confidence

Nottingham Counselling Service (NCS) works in partnership with a wide range of academic and vocational institutions to provide:

Our placements are offered to second year students studying counselling and psychotherapy at diploma and above level.

All counselling placements provide continuous assessment, line management and supervision whilst developing practical skills as a professional practitioner working with a portfolio of clients.

Those students accepted for placements will receive a minimum of one hour of individual and three hours of group supervision per month as they work towards completing 100 hours of counselling practice.  Attendance at supervision is mandatory and meets the guidelines and requirements of the BACP code of ethics and practice.

The environment at Nottingham Counselling Service offers great opportunities to link skills and theoretical learning to professional therapeutic practice, as well as offering ongoing networking opportunities and support.

All placements are invited to attend all in-house training events and workshops.  Continual Professional Development (CPD) is encouraged at all times to meet BACP membership and accreditation guidelines.

We also invite suggestions for future training and workshop events from placements.

Students are expected to make a financial contribution of £45 per month toward the supervision and professional practice development support provided by us. Payment will be by way of Direct Debit or standing order paid in advance to Nottingham Counselling Service.
